Oxygen Builder Keyboard Shortcuts and Class Lock: Swiss Knife 1.3

In Oxygen Builder you reach for the mouse for almost everything: adding a Div, saving, switching breakpoints. It's also easy to edit a shared class by accident and break the layout across the whole site. Swiss Knife 1.3.0 adds about 40 keyboard shortcuts for Oxygen Builder that you can customize, a printable cheat sheet, and a class lock. You work faster and can't change layout classes by mistake.

Keyboard Shortcuts

When you have to click through the Add panel for every element, building a page takes much longer. Swiss Knife gives you shortcuts for common builder actions, such as Save with Ctrl (⌘) + S, Undo with Ctrl (⌘) + Z, adding elements, and toggling panels.

  1. In WordPress admin, go to Swiss Knife → Shortcuts Manager.
  2. Each row is a shortcut, like Add Section, Add Div, Add Heading, Add Button, Add Code Block, Add Easy Posts, Open Library, Open Reusable or Breakpoint: All devices.
  3. Tick any combination of Ctrl / ⌘, Alt / ⌥ and Shift, then type a letter or number in the Key field.
  4. Click Save Shortcuts.
  5. Open the Oxygen editor and use your shortcuts there.

If a default key conflicts with your browser or you're used to a different layout, change it here.

Keyboard Shortcuts Printable PDF

Forty shortcuts are hard to remember in your first week. We made a two-page Shortcuts-Print-Template.pdf with the same columns as the manager: Shortcut Name, Ctrl / ⌘, Alt / ⌥, Shift and Key. Fill in your own combinations, for example Save = Ctrl / ⌘ + S, then print the sheet and keep it next to your keyboard until the shortcuts become habit.

Class Lock

Many classes are part of the layout. Edit one while you style a single element, and the change shows up on every page that uses it. Class lock prevents that.

  1. Select an element in Oxygen that has a class.
  2. Click the lock icon next to the class selector at the top of the properties panel.
  3. While the class is locked, you can't edit it. Click the icon again to unlock it.

If you imported your framework's classes with Swiss Knife's multiple class import, lock them so they don't get overwritten.
